We are pleased to announce that the Minimise Project recently got a shout-out in The Nation. Molly Morrow wrote an article on the US March for Life and interviewed our own Ben, who drew attention to non-typical sections of the pro-life movement. ‘All we’ve been doing so far is not enough,’ says Ben in the article, ‘we’re not changing people’s minds on this issue. I think the mainstream leaders of the movement are going to have to say, “We’re going to have to try something different.” I think in that gap is a space for nontraditional pro-life groups to gain a greater foothold in the movement.’

We were also pleased to see The Nation article quote Aimee Murphy of Rehumanize International, who ‘suggests that the contemporary anti-abortion movement will have to look more broadly and make alliances with organizations and politicians with whom they do not fully see eye-to-eye.’

‘Even if pro-life and pro-social safety net have seemed at odds, I hope that politicians will hear us, that one of the biggest ways we can combat abortion is resourcing families to prevent people from thinking that it’s their only option,’ says Murphy. ‘With the millennial and the Gen Z experience, more people than ever are identifying as LGBT, nonpartisan, no affiliation even religiously, I think we realize—if this cause really is for everyone—we need to be inclusive,’ said Murphy.

Aimee Murphy has written a book entitled Rehumanize: A Vision to Secure Human Rights for All. You can buy it directly from Rehumanize International here, thereby avoiding a certain large corporation we’d rather not name.

Last year Muireann and Ben were featured on the Pro Life Campaign’s podcast, We Are Human; you can listen back to the interview here. We Are Human aims ‘to empower, educate and inspire people on the pro-life issue’. The podcast features a variety of people from different spheres of pro-life activism, from Elizabeth Howard of Be Here For Me to Liz and Heidi Crowter to Obianuju Ekeocha of Culture of Life Africa. See here for these and all the other episodes.

Finally, we have featured the work of Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU) here before, including an interview with their Public Relations Director, Caroline Taylor Smith. (We also interviewed PAAU’s founder, Terrisa Bukovinac, back when she was with Pro-Life San Franciso.) Readers may be interested to learn that PAAU are holding an online roundtable discussion this Friday, International Women’s Day, at 8.00 p.m. EST (3.00 p.m. Irish time), with leading pro-life feminists.
